WRITTEN BY EM
Fresh on the scene and definitely someone to keep an eye on, Los Angeles-based Hunter Daily shares her brand new EP, Claw Marks, featuring two new singles, "Video Games" and "Wedding Season." The standout of Daily’s work is her songwriting; her unique lyrics excel at world-building, allowing listeners to get lost in the tracks easily, and this EP is no different. Her words, accompanied by her heavenly voice, make for a wonderful six-track experience as we are taken through the trials and tribulations of relationships and heartbreak. Daily covers the highs, lows, and the uncomfortable moments of opening up your heart, transforming them into a beautiful listen.

New with this EP, "Wedding Season" is a masterclass in pop songwriting, detailing the final months of a relationship before a breakup—something many of us can relate to. With gentle strings and an upbeat melody, despite its heartfelt subject matter, it remains a catchy anthem—perfect for singing in the car or shower. Daily’s voice is never lacking in emotion, and particularly in "Wedding Season," you can hear the heartbreak and conflict in her words. However, the catchy chorus, ‘I’ll wait, I’ll wait, I’ll wait…’, keeps it lighthearted and serves as a perfect middle track for the EP, preparing you for the flurry of emotions in the following two tracks, "Hope For The Best" and "Dead End."
"Video Games" is another new single on the EP, a catchy pop ballad reminiscent of both Sabrina Carpenter and early Olivia Rodrigo. With strong vocals, sarcastic lyrics, and prominent guitar strings, it’s a certified tune to add to your ‘hot girl walk’ playlist. The bridge is undoubtedly going to be something that will translate well live, as Daily leads a chant to the ‘ladies whose men are only turning on their monitors.’ "Video Games" is a perfect pop hit.
For fans of Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and Gracie Abrams, Daily is cementing her place as a true pop girly. Her EP offers a perfect mix of heartfelt and upbeat ballads. This collection is ideal for those of us who get a little too in our feelings but try to act nonchalant about it anyway...
"Claw Marks" is now available on all good streaming platforms!
