FANGIRL HOUSE

BY OLLY

Fangirl House Is Redefining the Future of the Music Industry

The word “Fangirl” for many years has had many negative connotations such as "obsessive" “parasocial” & “weirdos” Three of these self proclaimed fangirls Kaitlin, Em and Phee are here to change that. While studying Music Business at SAE Institute the girls created and formed Fangirl House. Documenting their lives as they study, connect with emerging artists and inspire others to work in the music industry.

Following the success of the first Fangirl House event earlier this year the girls held their second event at Strongroom in London. The impeccable line up included Jessica Doolan, Grace Gachot & Ili and they did not disappoint!

Up first of the evening was Jessica Doolan, an artist from Ireland. Her raw and honest lyrics had me mesmerised. Her playful soul/pop music set the tone for an incredible evening of talent. The highlight of her set and my new favourite song was “Chic” An instant anthem that had the crowd dancing on their feet.

Shortly after, we welcomed Grace Gachot to the stage. Fresh off touring with Mimi Webb on her confessions tour, Grace gave us heartfelt lyrics that told stories of heartbreaks and cheating exes that left us captivated and connected. My personal standout song from her set was “Naked” which touched on the vulnerability of getting intimate and being scared to let down your guard with someone new due to past traumas even despite wanting to.

Last but certainly not least, The Scottish pop princess Ili came to the stage and she OWNED IT! Her high energy and catchy melodies whether you were a massive fan of her beforehand or that was your first time hearing she had everyone singing along. Performing “It’s Giving…” she reminded us all what a perfect pop song is and it was giving exactly that!

Unfortunately that was the end of a beautiful night of highlighting the freshest talent in the industry but if i know anything about Fangirl House it will NOT be the last. These events will only get bigger and that is once again to the Fangirls that showcase smaller artists, buy those tickets for grassroot venues and support events similar to this. All of which is vital for the music industry and the artists and creatives within it.
