LEWIS CAPALDI WOWS THE AUDIENCE WITH A COMPLETELY ACCESSIBLE VENUE!

In May this year, Lewis Capaldi announced that he would partner with Carers Trust and ABLE2UK to host a free concert for primary caregivers and a guest. The venue, O2 Forum Kentish Town, was successfully transformed to be completely accessible to any disability, including having ramps installed, incredible wheelchair areas, earplugs and maps given out. Additionally, priority was given to disabled and neurodivergent photographers like myself!

The night kicked off with support act Dermot Henry, who completely owned the stage with an indie-folk mix which had the warmth to immediately transport the audience to a different place. His easy presence made for a perfect set up for the rest of the evening.

Then came the moment that had everyone on the edge of their seat. Lewis walked onto the stage to a huge roar of shouts and screams from the audience. I've never heard an audience so enthusiastic. From the start, Capaldi's voice sounded perfect, and the energy was as you’d imagine it would be. As always, in between songs he had everyone laughing with his usual hilarious sense of humour, which made the venue seem even smaller and more intimate than it was. 

Throughout the night, you could feel the gratitude in the air going both ways, from Lewis to the audience and from the audience to Lewis. Everything felt so genuinely joyful. What made the night even more special was the fact that Lewis seemed so genuinely happy to be there and be sharing the moment with everyone. 

While it was to celebrate primary carers,it was a night where everyone could step away and just enjoy themselves. All around you could see people singing, laughing and crying, and it made the night feel so meaningful. 

As a Neurodivergent creative, the evening felt particularly special. Seeing everyone, including myself, be so happy and accommodated, made me feel so hopeful about the world. Things like this, where music is inclusive, should be implemented everywhere because it is so important and hopefully this can be a leading example for the future. This event showed what can be achieved when it is accessible. 

This show wasn't just an amazing concert, it was proof that music really connects us all, creates community and makes people feel seen. It really was unforgettable.
