Rumour has it that OFF Script are investigating Hemlocke Springs for absolutely killing it at her London headline show at The Grace on Wednesday. Her weapons of choice, you may ask? Bubble guns, sparkling swords and all-round good vibes. The first UK audience since Springs released her debut album were treated to a magical night with great music and fantastical outfits.

But first, let’s talk about Ruti. The British singer opened the night beautifully, taking us through all the emotions. From having the crowd dancing to a cover of Zara Larsson’s Midnight Sun to singing along with their sadder songs, like Lungs, from their latest EP. The only booing last night happened when Ruti told the crowd that their set was ending. But, like they said, it meant they were a step closer to Hemlocke Springs herself.

Bringing whimsy and joy to an audience dressed like a neon fantasy, Hemlocke Springs had a sold-out London crowd dancing the night away with bangers from her latest album, The Apple Tree Under The Sea such as sense (is) and set me free, plus fan favourites like enknee1 and be the girl! But beyond her music, it’s clear that she’s a true performer. Adorned in a shiny pink jacket, neon green tights and glitter, Springs brought her audience into the fantasy of The Apple Tree Under The Sea for the night. A dramatic entrance warranted a wild crowd.
And her band perfectly matched her energy. Shiny shirts and bright wigs, plus a harmonica moment from their drummer later on in the night. The applause was well deserved when all three performers took their bows at the end of the night. If you don’t already know Hemlocke Springs from hits like girlfriend or when she toured alongside Chappell Roan and Conan Gray, now’s your chance to get to know her.
